Harold Bell Wright board receives donation

Saturday, November 24, 2012

Members of the Harold Bell Wright Museum Board received a donation in the amount of $365 from the now-defunct Rebekah Lodge #384 in Wentworth.

Nancy Reeves Stephens presented the check to the board during the September meeting. Stephens said the organization's remaining members decided to give the money to the museum since some of their artifacts were stored there.

In recent activity, 30 people attending a Pierce City High School class reunion visited the museum and cemetery.

Glo Abramovitz, museum curator, continues to work on the museum's name change from Harold Bell Wright Museum to the Harold Bell Wright/Pierce City Museum.

Three old doors have been connected and arranged for displays. One is the facility's original back door.

Members are currently working on displays concerning the Pierce City Post Office and natural disasters in Pierce City.

The Dacy's Fallen Officer display board has been constructed, and items are being collected for it to be housed in the old city jail.

Thus far, museum workers have collected over 1,000 family names for the museum index.
