Monett Police have received reports of break-ins at several facilities and a Monett business over the past week.
The Monett Booster Club clothing concession building at Burl Fowler Stadium and the food concession building were the targets of burglars on the night of Nov. 14. According to Officer Jay Jastal, the old concession building was not entered but was damaged.
Access was gained into the food concession building, where a small theft was reported. Damage done gaining access to the building may have exceeded the property stolen, Jastal said.
The Drury University campus on Fourth Street reported property was taken between Nov. 16 and 18. Minimal property loss was also reported at the First Christian Church on Fourth Street. The burglary at the church occurred on either Nov. 17 or 18.
A downtown business reported access was gained over the weekend of Nov. 9. In addition to property damage in the attempt to gain entry, a quantity of cash was reported missing.
|Jastal said historically thefts increase as the weather gets colder and the holidays draw nearer.||"Thieves look for packages in cars and even shopping carts," Jastal said. "People who are less aware allow themselves to become victims."|
Jastal advised locking cars. He recommended people leaving town for the holidays tell a neighbor or the Monett Police Department of their absence.
Anyone with information about suspicious behavior relating to any of these incidents is asked to call the Crime Stoppers tips line at 354-8477.
