R-6 District contracts speech pathologist

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

The Pierce City R-6 Board of Education approved an agreement with Missouri State University for a speech language pathologist to work with students identified by the district as needing those services during the October meeting.

District officials will supervise the clinical hours worked by the student.

Students and staff at Central Elementary School participated in the inaugural Just A Minute (JAM) physical activity and health education program. The goal was to get 2 million students participating in the program at the same time. The program offers a one-minute exercise program, either seated or standing, once a week. Although JAM did not achieve its goal of 2 million students, it is estimated the 1.3 million participants across the nation set an inaugural world record.

Kristi Marion, Central Elementary principal, offered results of the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) data for third through fifth grade students.

In other business, the board:

* Approved bus transportation routes and ridership lists.

* Reviewed student assessment results.

* Reviewed and approved the 2011-12 audit with Steve Harner, of the CPA Group, in Monett.
