MHS speech team competes at Diamond

The Monett High School speech and debate team competed at the Diamond novice and second year sophomore tournament on Oct. 26. Pictured above are the students with awards from Diamond. The following students advanced to finals and placed: Cori Arroyo and Collin Randles, seventh, duet acting; Lauren Brown, seventh, prose; Tania Contreras, fifth, oratory; Meghan Gaines and Sydney Barta, fifth, duet acting; Meghan Gaines, fifth, storytelling; Elizabeth Hurst, fourth, storytelling; Alex Ross, fourth, humorous interpretation; Hunter Williams, fourth, extemporaneous and fourth, oratory; Tarek Masri, third, extemporaneous; Elizabeth Hurst and Leah Miller, third, duet acting; Katelyn Morrison, third, storytelling; Iris Wormington, third, prose; Haley Henry, second, storytelling; Kiersten Harper and Haley Henry, second, duet acting; Tarek Masri, first, oratory, and Sydney Barta, first, prose.

The squad placed first in sweepstakes out of 12 schools.
