Cox Monett Hospital Auxiliary will hold a holiday book fair from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20 in the hospital's main lobby. A large selection of cookbooks, children's books and gifts will be available. For more information, call 354-1409.

United Methodist Men's breakfast will be held at 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at Grant's restaurant.

The third annual Thanksgiving dinner will be provided for the residents of local group homes ARC of the Ozarks clients, staff and families will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Countryside Christian Church, located at 1200 N. Eisenhower in Monett. For reservations, call 417-489-0068.

Missouri State University alumni and friends are invited to attend a MarooNation Gathering from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6 at Grant's restaurant. MSU President Clif Smart will speak. Art Hains, voice of the Bears, will host a conversational interview with football coach Terry Allen and baseball coach Keith Guttin. Cost is $5 per person. Reservations are requested before Dec. 4. A beef stew dinner will be offered from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post, located at 717 E. Broadway. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under age 12. Carry-out is available. Proceeds will support Legion youth programs.

The Monett High School Pizzazz Poms Dance Team will host its annual L'il Pizzazz dance clinic and middle school dance clinic on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Monett Athletic Complex, the former gymnastics center. Clinics are open to boys and girls, from kindergarten through eighth grade, from public or private or home schools. Registration is needed by Friday, Nov. 16. Forms are available at the Monett High School office or by calling 235-5445.

At the next meeting of the Monett Kiwanis Club at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 20, Rev. John Nipper, of the First Presbyterian Church, will give a Thanksgiving message. The club meets at Happy House restaurant.

Seniors who would like to sharpen their driving skills are invited to take the AARP diver safety course held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27 in conference room A1 (ground floor) at Cox Monett Hospital. The fee is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. The fee is waived during November for any veteran or family member of a veteran. Registration is required and can be made by calling 417-354-1COX.

Food service training workshops will be held by the Lawrence County Health Department from 9 to 11 a.m. on Nov. 16 and 1 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Health Department office, located at 105 W. North St. Cost is $10 per person. For more information, call 417-466-2201 to enroll.

November is "Share Your Favorite Recipe Month" at the Purdy Library. Patrons are asked to bring favorite recipes and discover new ones. The library is located at Highway C and Fourth Street. For more information, call 417-442-7314.

"Pierce City Past & Present" cookbook will soon be available, containing recipes from the 1970 centennial cookbook plus new additions from current residents and their families. Cost will be $10. Orders can be purchased at PC City Hall.

The Lawrence County Health Department has flu vaccine available for children age 6 months to 18 years old who reside in Lawrence County. There is a $10 charge. Flu shots and flu mist in a nasal spray is available. Vaccinations are available Monday to Wednesday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. For more information, call 417-466-2201.
