Monett honors fall sports athletes

Monett High School honored 25 falls sports athletes, representing six sports, for four-years of service. Monett fall sports athletes and their families were treated to a catered meal sponsored by the Monett Athletic Booster Club on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Six fall sports -girls tennis, football, volleyball, soccer, cross-country and softball- were recognized during the event.

Monett had a very successful fall season, winning three district titles one each in softball, soccer and football.

The evening was highlighted by recognition of 25 four-year participants, introduction of the Big 8 All-Conference selections and individual team recognition awards.

Tennis

Individual tennis team award recipients were:

* Most valuable: Alexandra Ross.

* Most dedicated player: Kerry Tinklepaugh.

* Toughest competitor: Hannah Pitts.

* Most dedicated: Alexandra Ross and Hannah Pitts.

* Most improved: Lauren Bass and Katie Tinklepaugh.

* Team spirit: Josee Caudill and Katie Tinklepaugh.

* Sportsmanship: Brianna Morris and Lauren Bass.

* JV Sportsmanship: Meagan Gaines.

* JV Team Spirit Saloni Patel.

Volleyball

Four-year letter winners were: Morgan Spilman and Cassie Hagedorn.

Claudia Chadwick was name to the All-Conference Honorable Mention team

Individual volleyball awards recipients were:

* Lady Cub award: Claudia Chadwick,

* Most improved: McKenna Mahl.

* Varsity most assists: Faith Schmidt.

* Varsity most digs: Morgan Spilman.

* Varsity most blocks: Claudia Chadwick.

* Varsity most kills: Claudia Chadwick.

* JV most kills: Brooke McLean.

* JV most assists: Megan Ballay.

* JV most digs: Jade Ingle.

* Ace award: Megan Ballay.

Cross-Country

Monett's cross-country team sent four runners to the state meet this year and enjoyed another fine season.

Four-year award winner was Michael Morley.

Individual cross-country award winners were:

* Outstanding male runner and state qualifier: Michael Morley.

* Outstanding female runner and state qualifier: Grace Cloud.

Soccer

Four-year award recipients were: Will Snider, Francisco Morales, Leonardo Regalado and Jorge Aceves.

Eddie Aceves, Jorge Aceves, Luis Gonzales and Jario Rueda received first team All-District awards.

Misael Cordero, Francisco Morales and Will Snider were second team All-District honorees.

Individual soccer award winners were:

* JV MVP: Nick McArthur.

* Cub award: Jorge Aceves.

* Most improved player: Leonardo Regalado.

* Defensive Player of the Year: Jorge Aceves.

* Offensive Players of the Year: Eddie Aceves and Jairo Rueda.

* Most Valuable Player: Francisco Morales.

Softball

Four-year award recipients were: Raigan Ratliff, Andrea Soriano, Josee Krueger, Jessica Harper and Cassidy Franke.

* Big 8 Coach of the Year: Ty Goetz.

* Raigan Ratliff was named to the first team All-Conference pitcher.

* Josee Krueger earned first team All-Conference third baseman honors.

* Allie Krueger garnered a first team All-Conference award as an outfielder.

* Andrea Soriano picked up a second team All-Conference award at the catcher's spot.

* Brooke Madison was named second team All-Conference shortstop.

* Kelsey Wiseman was name honorable mention first baseman.

* Abby Krueger received honorable mention recognition at second base.

Individual softball team awards were:

* Highest batting average (.455): Kelsey Wiseman.

* Most RBIs (23): Josee Krueger.

* Most runs scored (27): Raigan Ratliff.

* Most steals (34): Allie Krueger.
* Best fielding percentage (.988): Kelsey Wiseman.

* MVP: Kelsey Wiseman.

* Most improved: Jessica Harper.

* Lady Cub Award: Cassidy Franke.

* Newcomer of the Year: Kendall Bounous.

The Lady Cubs also set several single season and career records broken.

* Batting average (.455): Kelsey Wiseman.

* Home runs (4): Josee Krueger.

* Stolen bases (34): Allie Krueger.

* Hit by pitch (5): Allie Krueger.

* Sacrifice bunts (7): Brooke Madison.

Career records

* At-bats (.351): Raigan Ratliff.

* Hits (120): Raigan Ratliff.

* Batting average (.362): Josee Krueger.

* Doubles (29): Josee Krueger and Raigan Ratliff.

* Triples (12): Josee Krueger.

* Home Runs (8): Josee Krueger.

* RBIs (68): Josee Krueger.

Football

Four-year award recipients were: Tyler Bass, Kurran Blamey, Reese Bounous, Nicholas Childress, Aaron Hall, Matt Murphy, Devon Overall, Jeremiah Paszek, Nicky Roberts, Cristian Romero, Fernando Salas, Zach Swearingen and Kyle Woods.

Kurran Blamey, Reese Bounous, Matt Murphy and Aaron Hall were named to the first team All-Conference team.

Devon Overall, Matt Wentz and Dezmond Bradford earned All-Conference.

The football team did not release any post-season honors due to the fact they are still in the playoffs.
