The ninth annual Monett Chamber of Commerce Festival of Flavors will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the First United Methodist Church, 1600 N. Central in Monett. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Twenty different restaurants and caterers will provide dining samples, including new healthy options to try. Tickets are in limited supply and can be purchased at the chamber office, 200 E. Broadway, or at the door in any remain.

The Monett Area Extended Employment (Sheltered) Workshop Board of Directors will meet at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Workshop, located at 204 S. Central, in Monett. Scheduled is action on a grant to buy a baler, adjustments to the lease and renewal of health insurance.

The Southern Missouri Beekeepers of Monett will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the First United Methodist Church in Monett. All beginners and interested persons are welcome. For more information, call 235-7726 or 417-847-5464.

A beef stew dinner will be offered from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post, located at 717 E. Broadway. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under age 12. Carryout is available. Proceeds will support Legion youth programs.

The Springfield Social Security office will reduce its hours to 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Nov. 19. After Jan. 2, 2013, the office will close over the noon hour every Wednesday.

Weather permitting, the City of Monett Public Works Department will begin the citywide pick-up of loose leaves on Monday, Nov. 26. Leaves must be raked to the curb. Pick-up will run from the north side to the south side of town. Leaves will be picked up once in an area. For more information, call 235-3495.

Cox Monett Hospital Auxiliary will hold a holiday book fair from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20 in the hospital's main lobby. A large selection of cookbooks, children's books and gifts will be available. For more information, call 354-1409.

At the Monett Kiwanis meeting at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 13, Larry Shanks will speak on reintroducing wolves in the wild. The meeting will be at Happy House restaurant.

The annual old-fashioned Christmas open house at Jolly Mill will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Refreshments will be provided. Children are welcome to bring an ornament for Santa's tree. Cameras are welcome for the free event, beginning at 6:30 p.m. both days.

The Title I Parent Education Meeting for Monett R-1 kindergarten through sixth grade will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Monett Intermediate School media center. Technology specialist Lauralie Powell will make a presentation on iPads and Assistant Superintendent Mike Dawson will speak on the new Envision Math program.

The Aurora Fibromyalgia Support Group will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the private dining room at Mercy Hospital-Aurora, located at 500 S. Porter. The group will not meet in December. For more information, call 417-678-3580.

The Galena Elementary School Bear Paws will hold a farm toy show on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Galena Elementary School, 54 Medical Springs Rd.
