The ninth annual Monett Chamber of Commerce Festival of Flavors will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the First United Methodist Church, 1600 N. Central in Monett. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Twenty different restaurants and caterers will provide dining samples, including new healthy options to try. The Monett Area Extended Employment (Sheltered) Workshop Board of Directors will meet at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Workshop, located at 204 S. Central, in Monett. Scheduled is action on a grant to buy a baler, adjustments to the lease and renewal of health insurance.

The Springfield Social Security office will reduce its hours to 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Nov. 19. After Jan. 2, 2013, the office will close over the noon hour every Wednesday.
Weather permitting, the City of Monett Public Works Department will begin the citywide pick-up of loose leaves on Monday, Nov. 26. Leaves must be raked to the curb. The annual old-fashioned Christmas open house at Jolly Mill will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Refreshments will be provided. Children are welcome to bring an ornament for Santa's tree. Cameras are welcome for the free event, beginning at 6:30 p.m. both days.
