Max Allen Childress, 63, of Goodlettsville, Tenn., formerly of Purdy, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at his home. He was born on Aug. 16, 1949, the son of the late George and Hazel (Dotson) Childress.
He was retired from Gibson Guitar and a member of the Army and Navy serving as a sergeant in the Vietnam War.
Max is survived by his loving friend, Sandra, of the home; two sons, Scott Emery, Cabot, Ark. and Travis Eugene Emery, Goodlettsville, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Cynthia Glass, Nashville, Tenn.; three brothers, Paul Childress, Nashville, Tenn., Dan Childress, St. Cloud, Minn., and Harvey Childress, Fordland, Mo.; three sisters, Shirley Hudson, Olathe, Kan., and Bonita Kasparek and Barbara Folkner, both of Omaha, Neb.; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, George and Hazel.
Visitation for Max will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Mo. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 13, 2012 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett, Mo. Burial will follow services at Arnhart Cemetery in Purdy, Mo.
