Monett Athletic Booster Club will be hosting a tailgate party from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the practice field near Burl Fowler Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 10. The cost is $4 for choice of sandwich. Prime Cut will be catering the event. The menu will consist of choice of pulled pork, BBQ beef, Booster Club hot dog or hamburger with chips and a drink. All fans are encouraged to attend.

The 39th annual Golden Age Dinner hosted by Monett High School Student Council will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the school. All senior citizens are invited. Dinner, entertainment, and prizes are provided. Registration is requested and can be made by calling 235-5445.

A chronic disease self-management program, teaching skills to manage common problems with arthritis, diabetes, lung and heart disease or coping with daily issues, will be offered by staff from the Missouri Arthritis organization. Sessions last two and a half hours and begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 at the Pierce City Senior Center. To register, call 476-5006 and leave your name and phone number.

The Title I Parent Education Meeting for Monett R-1 kindergarten through sixth grade will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Monett Intermediate School media center. Technology specialist Lauralie Powell will make a presentation on iPads and Assistant Superintendent Mike Dawson will speak on the new Envision Math program.

At the Monett Kiwanis meeting at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 13, Larry Shanks will speak on reintroducing wolves in the wild. The meeting will be at Happy House restaurant.

All branches of the Barry-Lawrence Reginal Library will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12, for Veteran's Day.

The annual Purdy R-2 School District talent show, "Purdy's Got Talent," will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10. Performers from kindergarten through grade 12 will perform in the elementary gym. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students. A drawing and silent auction will be held in conjunction with the talent show. Proceeds will benefit the Purdy music department.

The Monett FFA Chapter will collect donations for Shoeboxes for Soldiers from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9 at the Monett Walmart Supercenter.

The third annual Thanksgiving dinner will be provided for the residents of local group homes ARC of the Ozarks clients, staff and families will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Countryside Christian Church, located at 1200 N. Eisenhower in Monett. For reservations, call 417-489-0068.

A chili and clam chowder supper and pie auction benefit for Mark Barnes, to defray major medical expenses, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Freistatt Lions Club building, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monetary and pie donations are welcome. For more information, call 417-466-3641.

The McDowell Jubilee will continue on Saturday, Nov. 10. The open mike format begins at 6:30 p.m. All musicians are welcome to come and play bluegrass and old-time music. The Jubilee is located south of Highway ZZ, southeast of Monett, on Highway VV, near the McDowell sign.

The annual old-fashioned Christmas open house at Jolly Mill will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Refreshments will be provided. Children are welcome to bring an ornament for Santa's tree. Cameras are welcome for the free event, beginning at 6:30 p.m. both days.

The 2012 Wheaton Christmas parade will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, beginning at the Body of Christ Outreach Ministries on Highway 86. Free pictures with Santa and candy will be available at 3:30 p.m. Entry forms are available by calling Wheaton City Hall at 417-652-3314.
