The Monett City Council will have a quorum when its members meet with the Lawrence County Commission at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at the city landfill, northeast of Monett. The two government bodies are meeting to review a proposed road easement.

Food service training workshops will be held by the Lawrence County Health Department from 9 to 11 a.m. on Nov. 16 and 1 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Health Department office, located at 105 W. North St. Cost is $10 per person. For more information, call 417-466-2201 to enroll.

The Barry County Council on Aging will meet at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at the Cassville Senior Center.

The Monett Middle School Parent Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7 in the middle school library. Parents of seventh and eighth graders are urged to attend.

The office of Barry County Collector Janice Varner mailed out the 2012 tax statements on Monday, Nov. 5. The office advises taxpayers who have not received statements by mid-November to contact the collector's office at 417-847-2113. Tax bills become delinquent on Jan. 1, 2013.

The annual Purdy R-2 School District talent show, "Purdy's Got Talent," will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10. Performers from kindergarten through grade 12 will perform in the elementary gym. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students. A drawing and silent auction will be held in conjunction with the talent show. Proceeds will benefit the Purdy music department.

The Verona R-7 School District will hold its annual Veteran's Day assembly at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12. All veterans who are Verona alumni and any veterans in the immediate area are invited to attend. Special accommodations are available by calling 417-498-6775.

The 39th annual Golden Age Dinner hosted by the Monett High School Student Council will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15. All senior citizens are invited. Dinner, entertainment and prizes are provided. Transportation is available. To sign up, call 235-5445.

The Monett Kiwanis Club will host a pancake dinner on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Scott Regional Technology Center. Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children. Elementary students will provide music.

A chili and clam chowder supper and pie auction benefit for Mark Barnes, to defray major medical expenses, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Freistatt Lions Club building, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monetary and pie donations are welcome. For more information, call 417-466-3641.

A Fall Bazaar at the Crane Presbyterian Church will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10. Homemade crafts, gifts, baked goods and gently used items will be available. Chili, homemade vegetable beef soup with pie and coffee will be available beginning at 11 a.m. The church is located at 39322 Highway 413 East, across from the school.

The City of Monett Public Works Department will begin the city-wide pick-up of loose leaves on Monday, Nov. 26. Leaves must be raked to the curb. Pick-up will run from the north side to the south side of town. For more information, call 235-3495.

Collection week for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse, will be Nov. 12 through Nov. 18 at Blessings Books and Gifts, at 222 E. Broadway in Monett.
