The Monett Booster Club will host a tail gate party at Wildcat Stadium in Cassville at 5 p.m. today, Nov. 5. A hamburger or hot dog meal plus chips and a drink will be available for $3.50. All Cubs fans are urged to attend.

A Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood drive will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, at the First Presbyterian Church, 700 Sycamore. A blood drive will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Missouri Veterans Home, 1600 S. Hickory in Mt. Vernon; from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 at Pierce City High School; and noon to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Mercy Hospital-Aurora, 500 Porter St.

Barry County Republicans will hold their annual election-eve rally today, Nov. 5, at the Crowder College campus in Cassville, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Jim Fohn will provide a free meal. State and local candidates will attend and speak.

A roast turkey luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Tom Wolfe Memorial Post #4207, VFW, on Highway 60, west of Monett. The meal includes turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, salad, dessert and beverage. No meal will be served on Nov. 21.

Auditions for a performance of the classic mystery play "Arsenic and Old Lace," to be performed at the Mt. Vernon Arts and Recreation Center, will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 7 at the Marc. Polly McCrillis will be one of the directors. There are parts for 10 men and four women, ages 18 to 80. For more information, call 476-5040.

The deadline for collecting donations for the Toys for Tots program in Lawrence County has been extended to Nov. 16. Applications are still available from the Aurora, Mt. Vernon and Pierce City police departments. For more information, call Tom Hanson at 417-440-1319.

A driver safety classroom course for senior citizens, offered by the AARP, will be presented from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Pierce City Senior Citizens Center, 104 N. Locust. Fore more information, call 476-2464.

The Monett Kiwanis Club will host a pancake dinner on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Scott Regional Technology Center. Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children. Elementary students will provide music.

Custom knife maker Tom McGinnis will present a program on the craft at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29 at the Mt. Vernon Library Branch, 206 W. Water St. McGinnis is one of the founders of Ozark Knife Makers. The program is free.

A free luncheon for senior citizens in the Purdy R-2 School District will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, in the school cafeteria. The Purdy FCCLA Chapter and students will be in charge of cooking, serving, decorating and providing entertainment. Special door prizes will be given. Reservations should be made by Nov. 27 by calling 417-442-3215, extention 211. Transportation will be available.

Collections are being accepted for the Christmas Shoeboxes for Soldiers drive. Donations can be left at the National Guard armories in Monett and Pierce City; the Pierce City Armory; the Bayou Restaurant; UMB Bank on Broadway; First State Bank; and the Purdy Farm Center.
