The annual Relay for Life event has been tentatively scheduled for September 2013 at Monett's South Park.
Event organizers, Helen Ruscha and Tracy Schallert, said moving the event to early fall from the traditional May time-frame was an option volunteers wanted to explore.
"No date has been set, yet," Ruscha said. "It will be a 12-hour event with several activities."
Organizational meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at the First United Methodist Church, located at 1600 Central Ave. in Monett.
"Anyone who wants to join in and help plan the event is welcome," Ruscha said.
The annual fundraiser traditionally raises over $70,000, which is used in the fight against cancer.
The annual event typically features a survivor's lap, for those to celebrate their victory over cancer; a luminaria ceremony, to remember those who have lost their fight to cancer; and a fight back ceremony, to inspire relay participants to make a commitment to take action.
So far, three teams have signed up to participate in the local event.
Informational packets will be distributed during the kick-off meeting, which has yet to be scheduled.
