Broadway Treasures, owned by Jerry Hamm, is now open at 501 E. Broadway in Monett, offering a variety of collectibles, coins, marbles and furniture.

Hamm owned Emporium Antiques and Collectibles in Pierce City from 1995 until May of 2003, when the F-3 tornado destroyed the business.

"I had an auction three years later and sold the items we were able to salvage from the Emporium," Hamm said. "Then I ran a small business out of my home part time."

Hamm is an avid collector of many things, but his primary interest is marbles.

"I started collecting marbles in 1981," Hamm said. "Now, every time I go to a flea market, garage sale or antique shop, I look for them. Some are pretty valuable."

Hamm also collects clocks, toothpick holders, pottery, unusual items, model cars and Pez dispensers.

Bitten by the trading and collecting bug, Hamm has once again opened a storefront location to offer a variety of goods to local buyers.

"I enjoy doing this," Hamm said, "and talking to people with similar interests."

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
