Monett Relay for Life committee retreat will be held from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 at the First United Methodist Church in Monett. Participants will brainstorm about activities for the year.

Barry County Republicans will hold an election-eve rally at the Crowder College campus in Cassville on Monday, Nov. 5, beginning at 5 p.m. A free meal will be provided, catered by Jim Fohn. Several candidates present will speak.

The Monett Kiwanis Club will host a pancake dinner on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Scott Regional Technology Center. Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children. Elementary students will provide music.

A chili and clam chowder supper and pie auction benefit for Mark Barnes, to defray major medical expenses, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Freistatt Lions Club building, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monetary and pie donations are welcome. For more information, call 417-466-3641.

The Purdy FFA Chapter will hold its annual Barnwarming on Friday, Nov. 2, in the elementary gym. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., including a chili and homemade ice cream competition for $5 per person.

The Kings Prairie Community Association will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1 at the old Kings Prairie school house, west of Highway Z on Farm Road 2015, southeast of Monett. A short business meeting will be followed by snacks and coffee. For more information, call 417-442-7910.

Vietnam Veterans Chapter #1023 will meet at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4 at Grant's restaurant on Chapell Drive in Monett. The chapter meets on the first Sunday of each month. All veterans are welcome. For information, call 471-271-3835.

A Fall Harvest Festival and Bazaar will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Wheaton United Methodist Church, 101 Santee St. A bake sale and bazaar will be held from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. A smoked turkey dinner with mash potatoes, green beans, salads, cranberry sauce and homemade pie will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Cost for the meal is $6 for adults and $3 for children age 12 and under.

A beef stew dinner will be offered from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post, located at 717 E. Broadway. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under age 12. Carry-out is available. Proceeds will support Legion youth programs.

The Purdy FCCLA Chapter is selling T-shirts for the PanCan Pancreatic Cancer Foundation in memory of the late Purdy teacher, Carl Geyer. The shirts bear Geyer's favorite quote" "Life is tough, but it is tougher if you are stupid." Cost is $10. Orders must be place by Nov. 7. To order, call 417-442-3215 extention 220 or 276.

Persons with mobility issues or difficulty standing in lines to vote are encouraged to ask for an absentee ballot from the county clerk's office or vote in advance at the clerk's office. In Barry County, absentee ballots can be requested by mail from Gary Youngblood, 700 Main St., Suite 2, Cassville MO 65625, by fax at 417-847-5311 or by email at barrycountyclerk@centurytel.net.

Berean Christian Academy is hosting a "party" fundraiser for Christmas shopping from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3. Products from Longaberger, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Premier Jewelry Designers will be offered.
