The Monett Halloween costume contest will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, in the Monett City Hall Auditorium, sponsored by The Monett Times and the Monett Lions Club. A bag of treats will be given to each participants. The public is invited to watch as well as participate.

Monett High School Student Council will host Spike Wars, a volleyball tournament between each grade level, on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the Golden Age Senior Citizen Dinner. Cost is $3. No passes accepted.

St. Lawrence Catholic Church Fall Feast will be held on Sunday, Nov. 4 at the parish hall, sponsored by the St. Lawrence Church Parish Council of Catholic Women. The turkey or pork loin dinner, with mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, salad, dessert and beverage will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children 5 to 12. Barry County Republicans will hold an election-eve rally at the Crowder College campus in Cassville on Monday, Nov. 5, beginning at 5 p.m. A free meal will be provided, catered by Jim Fohn. Several candidates present will speak.

The Cassville Senior Citizens Center will host its monthly dance from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1111 Fair St. The Roaring River Sounds Band will play. A $4 cover charge is requested. Finger foods are welcome. For more information, call 417-847-4510.

The Seligman Lions Club will host a community dance at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Seligman Community Building. Frosty Garland and the Road Hogs will perform. Cost is $4. Snacks are optional, For more information, call 417-846-5355.

Berean Christian Academy is hosting a "party" fundraiser for Christmas shopping from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3. Products from Longaberger, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Premier Jewelry Designers will be offered.

The Crane Athletic Booster Club will hold a Fall Craft and Junk Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 in the Crane school parking lot.

Liberty United Methodist Church will hold a chili supper from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3. All-you-can-eat chili or stew will be served with a dessert and drink for $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 to 12. The church is located three miles north of Monett of Farm Road 1090.

Auditions for a performance of the classic mystery play "Arsenic and Old Lace," to be performed at the Mt. Vernon Arts and Recreation Center, will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 7 at the Marc. Polly McCrillis will be one of the directors. There are parts for 10 men and four women, ages 18 to 80. For more information, call 476-5040.

The Purdy FFA Chapter will hold its annual Barnwarming on Friday, Nov. 2, in the elementary gym. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., including a chili and homemade ice cream competition for $5 per person.

A public pre-election tabulation test of the Barry County voting equipment will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 in the county clerk's office in Cassville.

The deadline for collecting donations for the Toys for Tots program in Lawrence County has been extended to Nov. 16. Applications are still available from the Aurora, Mt. Vernon and Pierce City police departments. For more information, call Tom Hanson at 417-440-1319.

The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will hold blood drives from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Missouri Veterans Home, 1600 S. Hickory in Mt. Vernon.
