Mt. VERNON, Mo. (AP) -- The Lawrence County prosecutor says a Marionville police officer was justified in the fatal shooting of a Springfield man in June.
Reserve officer Danny Hughes killed 37-year-old Adam Bergseth on June 30. Prosecutor Don Trotter says that Bergseth threatened Hughes with a large pair of scissors and ignored repeated warnings to drop the scissors.
KYTV reported Wednesday Hughes was on administrative leave before returning to work in late August.
On July 3, police found the remains of 27-year-old Kelly Frech of Florida in a trash can behind Bergseth's rented home. Investigators say she died about four months before her remains were found. Springfield police have refused to release information on Frech's death.
Trotter says the report on the shooting in Marionville did not delve into Frech's death.
