Curtis D. Crawford, age 88, of Aurora, Mo., passed away on Tuesday evening, Oct. 16, 2012 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
Curtis was born on March 31, 1924 in Barnard, Mo., the fourth child born to Opha M. Crawford and Hazel (Thompson) Crawford.
Curtis attended schools in Graham, Mo., and graduated with the class of 1942. He was enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 and served his country for two years. He received electrical training in the Navy that would later pave the way to his 38 year career at Otis Elevator Company. Curtis was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora and an avid golfer and fisherman.
On June 8, 1957, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, Mo., Curtis Crawford and Frieda Flaherty were united in marriage. To this union, two children were born. Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Crawford are one son, Larry Crawford and wife, Roberta, of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Alisa Crawford, of Overland Park, Kan.; three brothers, Martin Crawford and wife, Jackie, of St. Joseph, Mo., Jack Crawford and wife, Nell, of St. Louis, Mo. and Eldon Crawford and wife, Mary, of Savannah, Mo.; three sisters, Frances Coffey, of Cyprus, Calif., Beverly Jackson, of Marionville, Mo. and Alice Moats and husband, Jim, of Smithville, Mo.; two granddaughters, Kayla and Colleen Crawford, of St. Louis; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Opha and Hazel Crawford; and two brothers, Dale and Forrest Crawford.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, Mo. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with prayer services to begin at 5 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Arthritis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
