The Monett Area YMCA will host "Lights On After School," from 5:30 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 25 at Central Park Elementary School. The free event will feature inflatable bounce toys, games and snacks, Costumes are optional. The event will help promote the YMCA after-school programs. Monett Lodge #129, AF&AM, will hold its annual chicken dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the Masonic Temple, 13th St. and Glen. Serving times are 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Meals include half a grilled chicken, baked beans, potato salad or cole slaw, dinner roll and a beverage for $6. Tickets are available from any member of the Lodge or at the door. Carry-out containers will be available.

The Monett Senior Center, 405 Dairy St., will host a steak dinner fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. A six-ounce steak filet, baked potato, green beans, salad, rolls, dessert and beverage will be available for $9 in advance or $10 at the door. Musical entertainment will be provided by DeWayne Friend, guitar, and Al Brumley Jr. Proceeds will support center maintenance and the food service program.
