Monett City Council to consider utility rate increases

The Monett City Council will introduce ordinances increasing water and sewer rates at the monthly meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

The rate increases would go into effect in the next fiscal year, beginning on April 1, 2014. The first reading will not include public comment.

An ordinance will also be introduced changing the name of the Monett Municipal Airport to the "Monett Regional Airport."

Other new ordinances will add definitions to portions of utility billing rates pertinent to the construction of the new water treatment plant.

Council members will act on a grant application seeking Federal Transportation Enhancement funds for expanding the city's Greenways Trail. Ordinances will be introducing on an annexation petition from Danny Connor and a quit claim on an easement.

Public comment will be accepted on an ordinance amending restrictions on off-street parking and loading.

Resolutions will be considered on a bond compliance agreement with the investment banking firm of Gilmore and Bell, and accepting the audit of city financial records for the 2011-12 fiscal year.

Bids will also be reviewed for demolition of the building at 400 15th Street.

Department heads will also provide updates of work by city crews.

The meeting will be held in council chambers at Monett City Hall.
