Time for the "Glow in the Dark" golf tournament, sponsored by the Monett Kiwanis Club, has been slated for a 7 p.m. tee-off on Friday, Oct. 19 at the Windmill Ridge Golf Course in Monett. Cost for the nine-hole three-person scramble is $30. "Glow-balls" will be provided. To register, call 235-6076.

The United Methodist men's breakfast will be held at 7 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 at Grant's restaurant in Monett.

Liberty United Methodist Church will hold a chili supper from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3. All-you-can-eat chili or stew will be served with a dessert and drink for $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 to 12. The church is located three miles north of Monett of Farm Road 1090.

The second annual Halloween costume contest at the Monett Senior Citizen Center will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Judging will take place at 11 a.m. First prize is a $50 Walmart gift card, with prizes for second and third places. For more information, call 235-3285.

The Purdy Parent Teacher Student Organization will hold its annual school-wide carnival from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 in the elementary school gym. A wide assortment of carnival games and food will be available, ending in a silent auction. The public is welcome. Proceeds help teachers and school organizations fund activities. The Monett Senior Center, 405 Dairy St., will host a steak dinner fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. A six-ounce steak filet, baked potato, green beans, salad, rolls, dessert and beverage will be available for $9 in advance or $10 at the door. Musical entertainment will be provided by DeWayne Friend, guitar, and Al Brumley Jr. Proceeds will support center maintenance and the food service program.

The 640th Lawrence County Gospel Sing will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28, at Paris Springs Methodist Church, located west of Halltown on Highway 266 to Farm Road 1210 and follow the signs. All singers and musicians are welcome.

A spaghetti dinner will be offered be Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post #91 on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 717 E. Broadway, from 5 to 7 p.m. Plates are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Carry-outs are available.

A dedication of the Monett/Purdy Habitat for Humanity house at 115 E. Nellie in Monett will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. Sharra Meadows and her family will be available to meet the public. A home tour will be offered and refreshments served.

The Barry and Lawrence County Republican Central Committee will host a rally with state and county candidates at noon on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Monett High School commons. A luncheon will be provided by the Republican Committee. Candidates will begin to speak at 12:45 p.m.

The Barry County Council on Aging will have its monthly board meeting at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Central Crossing Senior Center in Shell Knob.

Cox Monett Hospital will hold its drive-through flu vaccination clinic in the south parking lot of the Monett Physicians Building from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. Enter from Lincoln Street. Cost is $20, cash or check only. This clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 in the hospital's main lobby.
