Monett Lodge #129, AF&AM, will hold its annual chicken dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the Masonic Temple, 13th St. and Glen. Serving times are 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Meals include half a grilled chicken, baked beans, potato salad or cole slaw, dinner roll and a beverage for $6. Tickets are available from any member of the Lodge or at the door. Carry-out containers will be available.

Faith Worship Center will feature Dr. Mark Shell, from Tulsa, Okla., speaking on "Spiritual Warfare: Conquering the Mind," on Oct. 21-24, with services at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21, and at 7 p.m. the following days. The Southwest Missouri Tea Party will be held at noon on Monday, Oct. 22, at the American Legion in Cassville. Scott Fitzpatrick, Republican candidate for 29th District Missouri Senate, and Mike Moon, independent candidate for the Seventh District Congressional seat, will be guest speakers.

A Fall Fun Festival will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. by the Purdy Assembly of God, located on the corner of Jefferson and Business Highway 37. Games, prizes, food and activities are planned for children up to grade 6. For more information, call 417-442-3898.

The Purdy Parent Teacher Student Organization will hold its annual school-wide carnival from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 in the elementary school gym. A wide assortment of carnival games and food will be available, ending in a silent auction. The public is welcome. Proceeds help teachers and school organizations fund activities. The Purdy High School Marching Band will perform at the 46th annual Maple Leaf Festival Parade in Carthage on Saturday, Oct. 20, beginning at 9 a.m.

A spaghetti dinner will be offered be Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post #91 on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 717 E. Broadway, from 5 to 7 p.m. Plates are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Carry-outs are available.

The "Glow in the Dark" golf tournament sponsored by the Monett Kiwanis Club has been rescheduled for Friday, Oct. 19 at the Windmill Ridge Golf Course in Monett. Cost for the nine-hole three-person scramble is $30. "Glow-balls" will be provided. To register, call 235-6076.

The Monett FFA will host a Holiday Craft Extravaganza from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Scott Regional Technical Center commons. Several crafters will have items for sale. For more information, call Tamra Sunby at 235-7022.

The Monett Senior Center, 405 Dairy St., will host a steak dinner fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. A six-ounce steak filet, baked potato, green beans, salad, rolls, dessert and beverage will be available for $9 in advance or $10 at the door. Musical entertainment will be provided by DeWayne Friend, guitar, and Al Brumley Jr. Proceeds will support center maintenance and the food service program.

The Barry County Area Retired School Personnel meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at St. John's Lutheran Church, located on Ninth St. in Monett.

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce will host is annual Chili and Salsa Cook-Off on Saturday, Oct. 27, in the Cassville square. For more information, call 417-847-2814.
