OACAC Head Start is accepting applications for its Head Start program for enrollment in Monett. Full or half-day sessions are available. Families who meet income guidelines and whose children are age 3 or 4 before Aug. 1 are eligible to apply. For more information, call Sandy at 235-8779.

The Pleasant Ridge Special Road District commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, at the Pleasant Ridge School House on Highway Z.

The Lawrence County Health Department has flu vaccine available for children age 6 months to 18 years old who reside in Lawrence County. There is a $10 charge. Flu shots and flu mist in a nasal spray is available. Vaccinations are available Monday to Wednesday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. For more information, call 417-466-2201.

The McDowell Golden Jubilee opens its season on Saturday, Oct. 13 for its 35th season, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The open mike format allows for many performers to play. The Jubilee is located off Highway ZZ, south on Highway VV and follow the signs. The next show will be on Oct. 27.

The Henderson-Davis family reunion will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church, 11057 Farm Road 2060, near Purdy. Descendants of Vera Gertrude Wormington Henderson Davis and George Ewin Davis are invited to attend. A business meeting will be held at 11:45 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch at noon.

The descendants of Ewin McPharis and Nancy Ann Tennis Davis and Ewin and Emma Frances Henderson Boswell Davis will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Grant's restaurant on Chapell Drive in Monett. The Crafter's Group that meets on the second Saturday of the month will meet on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Denali Dreams, 316 E. Broadway in Monett.

A hunter education class will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Monett Middle School, Ninth and Cleveland, in the cafeteria. For more information, call 354-4006.

The Barry-Lawrence County Ducks Unlimited Chapter will hold its annual member dinner on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett. The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15 at the Monett Church of Christ, 1109 Ninth St., in the meeting room.

Registration is underway for adult flag football and volleyball league play through the Monett Area YMCA. Eight games are guaranteed with a single elimination post-season tournament. Flag football will be played Tuesday evenings Women's volleyball will be on Monday evenings with co-ed volleyball on Friday evenings. Registration ends Oct. 12. For more information, call 235-8213.

"Pierce City Past & Present" cookbook will soon be available, containing recipes from the 1970 centennial cookbook plus new additions from current residents and their families. Cost will be $10. Orders can be purchased at PC City Hall.
