Downtown Monett merchants will host a sidewalk sale from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Dedication plans for the sixth Monett/Purdy Habitat for Humanity house will be made at a Habitat meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), located at Fourth and Wishart.

The Purdy Eagles Marching Band will participate in Missouri Southern State University's 75th annual homecoming parade on Satuday, Oct. 6. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. on the MSSU campus in Joplin.

The Monett Special Road District commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8 at Monett City Hall.

The Ennis and Beeson family reunion for descendants of Marty and Minnie Ennis, Evertt and Edna Beeson and Estis and Verna Beeson will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Community Faith Church on Highway 248. Attendees are encouraged to bring covered dishes.

The Freistatt fire department will host a truck and tractor pull on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Ernte Fest grounds in Freistatt. A kids pedal pull will be at 5:30 p.m. and the tractor pull at 6 p.m. Admission is $10. Children 12 and under are free.

The Monett FFA will host its fourth annual chili supper and auction at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, in the commons area at the Scott Community Technical Center.

The Lawrence County Health Department will offer its only evening flu shot clinic from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the department's office, located at 105 W. North St. in Mt. Vernon. Children may receive a free shot or nasal mist. Cost to adults is $15. Other immunizations can be acquired at that time. No appointment is necessary. For more information, call 417-466-2201.

A "Glow in the Dark" three-person scramble golf tournament is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 5, at Windmill Ridge Golf Course in Monett, beginning at 8 p.m. Cost is $30 per person. "Glow-balls" will be provided for nine holes of play. Teams can register by calling Mike Knight at 235-6076.

The Barry-Lawrence County Ducks Unlimited Chapter will hold its annual member dinner on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett. A silent auction and social hour precedes dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 for singles or $50 for a couple. For more information, call Julie Snodgrass at 417-489-1078.

Cox Monett Hospital is offering mums for $7.50 in nine-inch pots. All colors are available. Tickets are on sale through Oct. 15. Flowers can be picked up Thursday through Saturday at Monett Greenhouse and Garden Center. Proceeds benefit hospital programs. For more information, call 354-1409.

All branches of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library will be closed on Monday, Oct. 8 for the annual staff meeting.

The Aurora Fall Festival will be Saturday, Oct. 6 in Oak Park on Business Highway 60. The will be live entertainment, a car show, vendors and concessions, a chili cook-off at 11 a.m. and a rib cook-off at 2 p.m. For more information, call the Aurora Chamber of Commerce at 417-678-4150.

The Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon is sponsoring a toy drive. Donations will be accepted during the parade at Apple Butter Makin' Days on Saturday, Oct. 13. Toys will be given to local children at Christmas.
