Eleanor was born on Nov. 2, 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Irvin and Gladys (Simon) Hopf. Eleanor was a homemaker and a World War II veteran of the Navy. She was a member of Northampton United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, a lifelong member of Women Accepted For Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) and a member of the V.F.W. in Cuyahoga Falls. She also had a great love for playing cards, especially duplicate bridge.
On Nov. 23, 1946, Eleanor Hopf and Edward August Berger were united in marriage in Cleveland, Ohio. They were blessed with over 48 years together before his passing on Oct. 19, 1994. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Jane Haag.
Eleanor is survived by one son, Bob Berger and wife, Debbie, of Monett, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kristy Berger, of Pierce City, Mo., Cindy Murphy and husband, DJ, of Nashville, Tenn. and Robby Berger and wife, Emily, of Springdale, Ark.; and one great-granddaughter, Maddy Berger, of Springdale, Ark.
A celebration of life service for Mrs. Berger will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 at Buchanan Funeral Chapel with Woody Wilkinson officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends for food and fellowship at Mocha Jo's, 404 E. Broadway, Monett. Mrs. Berger will be taken to Rose Hill Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
