The Alexander McNair Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 15, at the First United Methodist Church in Monett.
Regent Bonnie Yetter welcomed everyone and led the group in the recitation of the DAR Ritual, the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, the American's Creed, the Pledge to the State of Missouri, and the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America. Yetter read the President General's Report.
Becky Ryder presented the National Defense Report entitled "Remarks of CIA Director David H. Petraeus," as published in the National Defender, September issue.
Mary Cowherd presented a program on the Constitution. September 17 through 23 was Constitution Week. Cowherd ordered bookmarks featuring the Preamble to give out to area school children.
Refreshments were served by the hostesses Dorothy Cox and Carol Jereczek.
Attending were: Mary Cowherd, Dorothea Cox, Jewell R. Farwell, Sondra Faulkner, Mary Ann Fine, Kim Howerton, Carol Jereczek, Margaret Meadows, Betty Meier, Becky Ryder, Marjorie Ryder, Bonnie Yetter, and prospective member Mary Wicker.
The next meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at First United Methodist Church in Monett. Those interested in NSDAR membership are invited to attend.
