MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News
Recent rains have improved conditions around the state. Many fields are
once again green as enough moisture has been provided to start grass to
growing once again. Water supplies are however still lacking tremendously.
Although some have been able to cut back or stop feeding for the time
being many farmers are struggling to find hay supplies for the coming
winter feeding season. Hay movement has been very heavy over the last
couple of weeks with hay coming from both the north and south. It is
nearly impossible to spend more than a few mins driving down any major
highway without meeting a load or two of hay. Hay supplies are light
demand very good and prices steady. The Missouri Department of Agriculture
has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed,
or for a directory visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ or for current
