Monett Electric Department crews began installing new lights at North Park this week, a joint project between the city, the Monett R-1 School District and the Monett Youth Baseball and Softball League.

According to Aaron Burdett, foreman for the Electric Department, there are 21 poles, each in three sections, that require holes from 10 to 16 feet deep, depending on whether they are 60, 70 or 80-foot poles.

A total of 129 light fixtures will be mounted. The work shown above was done on field #6, used by the high school baseball team.

Burdett said the timetable on erecting the poles requires working around the current high school softball contests on field #4, and league play by the Youth Softball League on fields 1, 2, 3 and 5, which will continue until mid-October. Practice on the fields resumes in mid-February.

Burdett said his crews will work between seasons to finish their work by March.
