Rose Marie Knaust, age 84, of Mt. Vernon, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 while at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
Rose Marie was born on Feb. 12, 1928 in Hoberg, Mo., the daughter of Herman Knaust and Erna Cedonia (Pietsch) Knaust. She grew up in the Mt. Vernon area and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1946. She then moved to Kansas City where she furthered her education by attending Secretarial School. She began working as an executive secretary with Retail Credit Company (now known as Equifax) in Tulsa, Okla., enjoying a 35 year career with the company. After leaving Equifax she worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Tulsa for 15 years, retiring in 1990.
Rose Marie enjoyed traveling and leading tour groups to Europe. She especially enjoyed spending time in Germany. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, Lutheran Braille Workers and the Freistatt Friendship Club.
Survivors include two brothers, Elfred Knaust and wife, Janet, and William Knaust and wife, Ruth, all of Joplin, Mo.; 16 nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Erna Knaust; two brothers, Raymond and Edward Knaust; and one sister, Flora Spree.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, Mo. Rev. Ryan Buchmueller, officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Buchanan Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to The Trinity Lutheran Church Radio Broadcast fund, Lutheran Braille Workers, or The Lutheran Hour in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
