MHS Speech and Debate students compete at tournament

The Monett High School Speech and Debate team competed at the NFL National Tournament in June. Competitors pictured above, from left, are Zeina Masri and Garrett Maxey.
The Monett Speech and Debate team competed at the NFL National Tournament in Indianapolis during the week of June 11 through June 15.

In a field of over 200 of the top competitors in the nationals, Zeina Masri advanced to the top 60 round in dramatic interpretation. She also advanced to the semi-final round of storytelling.

Garrett Maxey advanced to the top 25 in poetry.

The National Forensic League recognizes the students who have the highest number of members and degrees in the state and nation as All-State and All-American.

Named to All-American was Kale Turner. Named to All-State was: Turner, Emma Verstraete, Reece Johnson, Bryce Isbell, Laramie Ellis, Maxie, Jonah Ragsdale and Emily Copening.
