The Monett Lady Cubs volleyball team (0-4) fell to the McDonald County Lady Mustangs 16-25, 20-25 Tuesday night.

"I thought we matched up with them (McDonald County) pretty well," said Monett coach Crystal Shannon. "They made just a few less mistakes."

The Lady Mustangs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first set and maintained at least a four-point advantage the entire game.

Shannon encouraged her squad to keep working and playing hard.

"I wanted our kids to keep pushing," said Shannon. "I felt that we had a chance to win if we continued to work hard. We started (the second set) really strong, but faded down the stretch."

The Lady Cubs jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the second set and led 18-13, before the Lady Mustangs responded with a 12-2 rally to win the contest.

Monett will play at Neosho tonight with matches set to begin at 6 p.m.
