CJ sweeps Seneca Cross Country Invitational

Jonah Ragsdale's seventh-place finish in 19:26 led the Monett Cubs to a third place in the varsity boys team standings at the Seneca Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

The Cubs scored 84 points and only trailed Carl Junction (49) and East Newton (65). Cassville placed fourth with 110 points.

Ragsdale was supported by Michael Morley, 10th in 19:47; Erwin Perez, 15th in 20:16; Jon Schliem, 24th in 21:20; Dalton Paynter, 28th in 22:00; Aaron Morley, 30th in 22:14; and Conner Launis, 34th in 22:37.

Cassville was led by Taylor Dodson, who placed 11th in 19:56. Other Wildcat finishers were: Conner Redmon, 17th in 20:28; Jordan Shore, 18th in 20:32; Wal;ker Perez, 29th in 22:00; T.J. Matthews, 35th in 22:48; and Will LeCompte, 46th in 25:23.

Purdy High School was represented by Andrew McCormick, 32nd in 22:27, and Devan Keeler, 44th in 24:44.

Carl Junction also won the girls varsity race, 48-53 over Monett. No other school had a full girls team entered.

Madeleine Weber, fifth in 23:36 and Grace Cloud, sixth in 24:07, led Monett. Birdianna Salas (10th), Maddie Peterson (14th), and Carmen Renteria (18th) completed the scoring for the Lady Cubs.

Deb Kern of Cassville finished seventh in 24:36, and teammate Chantel Huse placed 17th.

The cross country Cubs will be in action at Nixa next Tuesday.
