A reorganizational meeting of Historic Pierce City will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Harold Bell Wright Museum, 404 N. Walnut. Anyone interested in participating in projects to preserve and enhance Pierce City's history is welcome to attend.

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Chili and Salsa Cook-Off in the square on Saturday, Oct. 27. The chamber's production of "The Show" will be held Oct. 25-28. For more information, call 417-847-2814.

The third annual fundraising banquet for The Den Youth Center in Monett will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, at New Site Baptist Church, southwest of Monett. The dinner will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Nashville-based Christian recording artist Trent Monk will provide the entertainment. Tickets are $30 and are available by calling 417-635-1108.

Registration is underway for Neosho's Patriot Day Parade on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10:30 a.m. Bands, clubs, veterans groups, businesses and individuals are welcome to participate. For more information, call the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce at 417-451-1925.

Entries are being accepted for the Aurora Chamber of Commerce's annual Little Miss and Mister Houn Dawg and Little Miss and Mister Beagle pageant for children ages 4 to 10 on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Pate School Auditorium. Entries must reside in Lawrence, Barry or Stone counties. Deadline for entries is Sept. 10. Applications are avaliable at the chamber office.

The Scott Regional Technical Center Adult Education Zumba class will begin on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 6 to 7 p.m. This is a new date. For more information, call 235-8356.

A truck and tractor pull, sponsored by the Freistatt Fire Department, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Ernte Fest grounds in Freistatt. There will be a kids pull at 5 p.m. and a tractor pull at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 and free to children 12 and under. Proceeds benefit the Freistatt Fire Department.

The Southwest Missouri Solid Waste Management District N is accepting applications for grants for 2013. Funds are available to promote reducing, reusing or recycling solid waste. Any business, school, public entity, civic or non-profit organization in Barry or Lawrence County can apply. Deadline is Oct. 1. For more information, call Joyce at 236-9012.

Children's author Jo Ellen (Humphrey) Black, the author of "Clyde McLivingston Takes a Walk," will return to her home in Marionville to speak at the Marionville Branch of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 22 as part of Applefest. Crop producers have until Oct. 1 to purchase coverage through the Noninsurable Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP), which covers low yields, loss of inventory or natural disasters preventing planting. For more information, contact the Barry County Farm Service Agency at 417-847-2111.
