New publishers have been named to guide The Monett Times, the Cassville Democrat and Connection magazine. Mike and Lisa Schlichtman will now serve as co-publishers of all three publications.
The Schlichtmans are former owners of the Cassville Democrat, and Lisa joined the staff of The Monett Times as editor in 2009 after Rust Communications purchased the daily newspaper. The Schlichtmans owned and operated the Cassville Democrat from 1995 until 2005 when they sold the property to Rust.
"We are very pleased to promote Mike and Lisa to the position of co-publishers," said Ron Kemp, regional vice president for Rust Communications. "We know they have a tremendous commitment to quality products and to excellent service to our readers and customers.
"We are excited about the future of the newspapers in Barry County, as well as the continued development of our new products such as Connection magazine," added Kemp.
With the shift in management responsibilities, Lisa Craft has been promoted to managing editor of The Times, and Murray Bishoff has been named news editor of the four-day-a-week daily. Craft, who began her career at The Times in 1989, formerly served as community editor. Bishoff has been associated with the newspaper since 1988.
Lindsay Reed will remain editor of The Cassville Democrat, a position she has held for the past four years. Jared Lankford serves as sports editor for both publications. The news operations are rounded out by Melonie Roberts, who serves as full-time writer for the newspapers and magazine.
Mike Schlichtman has also announced the promotion of Robyn Blankenship to the position of advertising director. In that role, Blankenship will direct the newspaper and magazine sales team, which includes Sheila Harris, Marion Chrysler and Cassie Brewer.
Lisa Schlichtman will remain editor of Connection magazine, and she will be responsible for the expansion of a quarterly Ozark Outdoors magazine to serve southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. She has also been tasked with supervising a new composition center, based in Monett, that will oversee the design of magazines and special publications published in southwest Missouri and Arkansas.
"We are excited about this new opportunity," said Lisa. "We have assembled a very talented design team, and we are excited to grow our existing publications and launch new products to meet the needs of our advertisers and readers."
Design team members include Veronica Zucca and Christopher Vore, based in Monett, and Melody Rust, based in Eureka Springs, Ark. Zucca is the long-time art director for the popular Connection magazine.
Other members of The Monett Times staff include: Melissa Leech, office/circulation manager; Connie Jarvis, office assistant/receptionist; and Amy Obermann, pre-press/distribution.
