The Purdy Board of Education and administration acknowledged the district's commitment to the safe transportation of its students when school board president Randy Henderson presented transportation director Rod Tucker with the award at the district's beginning-of-year staff meeting held on Aug. 13.
The Purdy fleet joins 255 Missouri school districts that received the award this year. The honor recognizes approval ratings of 90 percent or higher with no buses placed out-of-service after the annual Highway Patrol inspection.
Tucker and team of five veteran bus drivers have earned the award for the past two years with a 100 percent approval rating for 2012.
"The Total Fleet Excellence Award is a high honor," said Tuck. "It makes all of our hard work worthwhile. I do this job because I love it. I try to keep the kids safe as if they were my own."
