The Missouri Department of Conservation will be conducting a hunter education class from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct.12, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the University of Missouri Southwest Research Center near Mt. Vernon. For information, call Andy Barnes at 417-461-4586.

OACAC Head Start in Monett is now accepting applications for sessions beginning in September. Full or half-day registration is underway for Neosho's sessions are available. Families must meet income guidelines and have children who are age 3 or 4 prior to Aug. 1. For information, call 235-3911 or 235-8779.

Plans are underway for a reunion of students who graduated or would have graduated from Pierce City or McAuley High Schools from 1960 through 1971. The reunion will be held on Sept. 21 and 22 in Pierce City. For additional information, contact Jim Larkin at 476-2436.

The descendants of John and Tina (Doty) Hall will hold their annual Hall family reunion on Sept. 2 at the fellowship hall of the Verona Baptist Church. A buffet-style covered dish lunch is scheduled for approximately 1:30 p.m. All family members and friends are invited to attend.

Mocha Jo's, located at 404 E. Broadway in Monett, will be closed on Monday for Labor Day.

The annual "Sermon in Song" worship service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 2, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at Pleasant and Washington in Aurora. In place of a sermon, the congregation will sing one verse of 25 or 30 favorite hymns.

Chief Sarcoxie Days will be held Sept. 6 through Sept. 8 in the Sarcoxie square. The celebration includes a carnival, baby contest and a parade on Saturday. Two will be named the festival chief and squaw to reign over the festival. Crafts booths will be on hand. For information, call 417-592-8901.

A benefit sale to help Sherry Hulett and her daughters will be held Sept. 7 and Sept 8 at 8046 Lawrence 2220, two miles off Highway H. For information or to make donation, call 417-229-3027.

Local attorney and author Dee Wampler will speak at services on Sunday, Sept. 2, at the Monett Assembly of God, located at 607 E. Benton. Wampler will speak about his book, "Standing on the Front Line," at the 9:45 a.m. Sunday school class and at the 10:45 a.m. worship service. The public is welcome to attend.

Local Vietnam Veterans Chapter #1023 will meet Sunday, Sept. 2, at Grant's restaurant in Monett, east of Walmart. All veterans are welcome. For information, call 471-271-3835.

The Monett Senior Center will hold its second annual Bib Overall Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3. The Fun Timers Band will play. Participants are encouraged to bring potluck or finger food. The center is located at 405 Dairy St.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office announces the mobile application "Re-cently Released" for the sheriff's office website. This feature will allow citizens to view inmates re-leased from the Lawrence County Jail within the last 48 hours. The application is the newest upgrade to the sheriff's office website.
