William Schuetz

William Alfred "Bill" Schuetz, age 93, of Monett, Mo., passed away at 1:40 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 while at Benchmark Healthcare of Monett.

William was born on March 14, 1919 in Hannibal, MO, the son of John David and Alma Anola (Kirse) Schuetz. Bill graduated from Hannibal High School in 1936 as the class president. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII, obtaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

Bill spent his life in the shoe industry, serving as a Superintendant for International Shoe, Jumping-Jacks Shoes and Juvenile Shoe. He was a life member of the VFW Post #4207, D.A.V. and American Legion Post #91of Monett. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Monett.

On May 9, 1954 in Salem, Ill., William Schuetz and Billie Mae Clonts were united in marriage. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2009. Also preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Elsie Marshall, of Jefferson City, Mo. and Katheryn Johnson, of Jackson, Mich.; and one brother, John David Schuetz, of Hannibal, Mo.

Survivors include one son, David Earl Schuetz of Monett; one daughter, Susan Ann Roberts and husband Ron, of Glendale Ariz.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and his two little buddies, Poncho and Choco.

Graveside services and military honors for Mr. Schuetz will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett with Reverend Jimmy Copley officiating. The family invites friends for a visitation on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been requested to VFW Post #4207 or the Chapel of Grace in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
