Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) reports there will be one-lane traffic near Butterfield on Route U in the coming week for road patching. In Lawrence County, there will be one-lane traffic on Interstate 44 and Route U, west of Phelps, for repair of roadway edges.

The Miller Fall Festival will be held Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 in downtown Miller. There will be games and live entertainment nightly. The parade will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1. Participants should gather at 12:30 p.m. at the high school.

The Not So Square Arts Festival in Mt. Vernon will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mt. Vernon Arts and Recreation Center (The Marc), located at 822 W. Mt. Vernon Blvd. Painters, potters, authors, photographers, jewelry makers and more are welcome to sign up for booth space. For more information, call 417-461-0295.

The descendants of John and Tina (Doty) Hall will hold their annual Hall family reunion on Sept. 2 at the Fellowship Hall of the Verona Baptist Church. A buffet-style covered dish lunch is scheduled for approximately 1:30 p.m. All family members and friends are invited to attend.

A Monett High School parent support meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29 in the high school commons area. Upcoming student events will be discussed. Parents are encouraged to attend.

The Monett Chamber of Commerce office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this week, Aug. 28-31, as part of the schedule change for the last four business days of each month.

Wheaton United Methodist Women are sponsoring an Esther's Closet for all area women on Saturday, Sept. 8. Esther's Closet is a temporary boutique where women can acquire clothing, jewelry, shoes and toiletries for free. Access to healthcare, shelter, utilities and transportaion assistance is available. The church is located at 101 Santee St. in Wheaton, two blocks east of the Fast Trip.

Booth space is available for a Country Fun Fair, presented by the Berean Christian Academy from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. This outdoor event will be held at Berean, one mile east of Lowe's on Highway 60. Activities will include a car show and cruise-in, bounce houses, carnival games, blue ribbon pie contest, entertainment and a pie contest. Space is limited. For information, call 417-772-4494.

The Southwest Missouri Tea Party will meet at noon on Thursday, Aug. 30, at the American Legion Post, Highway 76 in Cassville. Frank Herbert will present the program. State Senate candidate David Sater will be the guest speaker and will take questions from the audience.

Local Vietnam Veterans Chapter #1023 will meet Sunday, Sept. 2, at Grant's restaurant in Monett, east of Walmart. All veterans are welcome. For information, call 471-271-3835.

The Monett Senior Center will hold its second annual Bib Overall Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3. The Fun Timers Band will play. Participants are encouraged to bring potluck or finger food. The center is at 405 Dairy St.

The Barry County Republican Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Grant's restaurant. State Senator Jack Goodman will be the featured speaker.

The Higgs-Williams reunion will be held on Sept. 9 at the Exeter Community Center. A basket dinner will be served at 1 p.m. For information, call June Brandt at 235-3623
