Monett Council schedules busy meeting Monday

Thursday, August 16, 2012

The Monett City Council has scheduled a busy session for its monthly meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Monday.

Resolutions will be passed appointing Mike Wallace to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Dale Ellis to the Building Board. An agreement will be approved allowing the Monett R-1 School District to use city owned athletics facilities.

Council members plan to approve a new contract for services with golf course consultant Michal Vogt and for him to provide input on hiring future golf course staff.

Public comment will be accepted on the memorandum of understanding between the city and Cox Monett Hospital about private security officers having police authority.

Comment will be taken on the City of Verona over providing 911 services and over the purchase of land at the Monett Municipal airport from EFCO Corporation, a Pella company.

Final passage is scheduled on the ordinance prohibiting smoking in at the North Park except in designated areas. Bills will be paid. Department heads will report on recent activities by city crews.

A proclamation will be presented in remembrance of W. Dale Burke, late municipal court judge and city attorney. A proclamation will also be issued honoring the services of the doctors from the Phillipines who came to serve the Monett community 40 years ago. A reception in their honor will follow the meeting.
