EFCO, a Pella company, is once again sponsoring the Teacher of the Month program in partnership with The Monett Times. The 2012-13 school year marks the fourth year for the popular program, which recognizes outstanding local teachers and rewards them.
Each month, the winning teacher will receive a recognition plaque and a check from EFCO in the amount of $250 to be used for classroom supplies. The teacher will also be featured in the newspaper.
Any public or private school, kindergarten through 12th grade teacher in Monett, Purdy, Verona, Pierce City or Freistatt is eligible for the award. Nominations can be made by students, parents, community members or fellow educators.
Nomination letters can be submitted to school offices, dropped off at The Monett Times office or emailed to Lisa Schlichtman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The program will begin for the 2012-13 school year with the September Teacher of the Month. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, Sept. 12.
The winning teacher will be announced in the newspaper each month following an awards ceremony that will be held at the teacher's school. That awards presentation will be attended by representatives from EFCO and The Monett Times.
The Teacher of the Month program was launched during the second semester of the 2009-10 school year.
