The Monett City Council will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Friday to review and approve a bid for demolition of the Monett Park Casino.

The Rebel's Bluff theatrical troupe will present Meredith Willson's "The Music Man" at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, and Friday, Aug.. 11, preceded by dinner at 6 p.m. A matinee is offered at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12. Performances will be at the Marc, 833 W. Mt. Vernon Blvd. in Mt. Vernon. Advanced tickets are available by calling 417-466-7861.

The first practice for the Pierce City Middle School volleyball team will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, in the Central Elementary gym. Participating seventh and eighth graders must have a physical and proof of insurance.

The annual Pierce City football alumni event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, at Don Keebaugh stadium at Pierce City High School. The planning committee for the 55th reunion of the Monett High School Class of 1957 will meet at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, at Mocha Jo's coffee café, 404 E. Broadway. All classmates and interested persons are welcome to attend. For more information, call Sara Parker at 417-342-4243.

A country breakfast fundraiser to benefit the Pierce City Senior Citizens Center will be held fro 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the senior center, 104 N. Locust St. The meal is $5 for adults and $3.50 for children ages 5 to 10. Additional donations will be accepted.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held at the First Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ), located at 603 Fourth St., from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 20.

Rev. N. Wayne and Esther Nigh, missionaries to Germany and Thailand, will speak at the Faith Worship Center, 3045 S. Elliott Ave. in Aurora, on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. and Aug. 27 through Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Pastor Arnold Ray Evans at 235-5329.

The Monett/Purdy Habitat for Humanity affiliate will meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the First Christian Church in Monett, located at Fourth and Wishart.

The 13th annual Kings Prairie Concert will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, at the historic Kings Prairie school. Those attending should bring lawn chairs. The concert will be held south of Highway 60, three miles east of Monett, on Highway Z one mile, then west on Farm Road 2015, across from the New Liberty Church.

New hours for the Monett License Office, beginning Aug. 6, will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the last four business days of the month.

A fundraising golf tournament to benefit Troy Davis will be held on Friday, Aug. 10. The four-person scramble will be held at the Windmill Ridge Municipal Golf Course, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per team for skins and $10 per person for Mulligans.
