"Homeland: Immigration in America," the documentary series by the nineNetwork of Public Media in St. Louis, can be viewed online. The complete program entitled "Jobs," that features Monett, can be found at explorehomeland.org, clicking the "Watch now" link and finding the "Jobs" picture.

A cruise-in and dinner will be held in Verona on Saturday, Aug. 4, to celebrate the start of a new school year. The event will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at the school. A barbecue brisket dinner or steak/chicken fajita tacos will be served for $6. There will be live music, carnival games, laser tag and an outdoor movie at 9 p.m. For more information, contact Melvey Hillhouse at 235-9663.

The Purdy Cemetery Association is asking for donations for the upkeep of the Purdy Cemetery. Donations are not covering the cost of mowing and upkeep. Donations can be mailed to: Purdy Cemetery Association, PO Box 491, Purdy MO 65734 or deposited in mailboxes at each entrance at the cemetery.

The Team Xtreme Power and Faith Team will give a demonstration at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 on Fourth Street between Broadway and Front streets. The program, designed for youth and adults, will demonstrate physical strength to inspire faith. For more information, call 417-489-1919.

Mike Ewoldsen, who has won six world and national weight lifting titles and set 98 American records, will bring his Dunamos ministry to perform feats of strength at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, at the Monett Assembly of God, 607 E. Benton St. For more information, call 235-3474.

The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will hold blood drives on Sunday, Aug. 5, from noon to 5 p.m., at the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church on Farm Road 1100, east of Purdy; and on Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Freedom Christian Center, 17044 Highway 39 near Aurora.

The Monett City Council will meet at 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 3. Council members will have second reading on an ordinance approving a compromise settlement with Jason and Jennifer Inman; first reading of an ordinance approving a memorandum of understanding between the cities of Monett and Verona regarding 911 services; an agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission shifting and widening a state Highway entrance along Highway 37 by the new Monett Area YMCA; and approval of a recommendation by the Building Board on demolition of 400 15th St. A closed session is planned for legal issues.

A monthly dance at the Monett Senior Citizens Center, 405 Dairy St., will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6. Music will be provided by the Fun Timers Band. Admission is $3. Those attending are urged to bring pot luck or finger food.

A wild turkey banquet to benefit the National Wild Turkey Federation will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3 at the American Legion Home, 717 E. Broadway in Monett. A drawing for guns and artwork will be held. Advanced tickets are available by calling Bill at 236-3719.

The City of Verona will test its tornado sirens on the first Monday of every month, weather permitting.

Body of Christ Outreach Ministries will hold a concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, at First and Main in Rocky Comfort. Southern gospel recording group Second Generation will perform. A free will offering will be taken. For more information, contact Pastor Gene Robinson at 417-652-3709.
