Monett Mayor Jim Orr has issued a proclamation in honor of former municipal judge W. Dale Burke, who died on July 25. The flag at the Monett Justice Center will be flown at half staff for a week.

Monett's #12 well returned to service on Tuesday morning after steady diminishment of muddiness over the previous 48 hours. Once watertowers refill, utilities superintendent Pete Rauch expected secondary wells would cycle off, leaving the top three wells producing 2,424 gallons a minute.

The Kings Prairie Community Association will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, to discuss the annual Kings Prairie Music Festival, which will be held on Aug. 11. Snacks and coffee will be provided. The meeting will be held at the historic Kings Prairie school and community center, two miles east of Monett on Highway Z, then west on Farm Road 2015. A "surprise" retirement/appreciation party to honor Roxanne Berg, long-time librarian at the Purdy Branch of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library, will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Purdy Community Center. A fundraising golf tournament to benefit Troy Davis will be held on Friday, Aug. 10. The four-person scramble will be held at the Windmill Ridge Municipal Golf Course, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per team for skins and $10 per person for Mulligans.
