Couple to celebrate anniversary

Kent and Florence McAlexander were united in marriage on Aug. 3, 1946 in Lyndon, Kan., and will be celebrating 66 years of marriage at a reception from 1 to 2 p.m. on Aug. 5 at the Monett First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The couple moved to Monett from Kirksville in 1999. Kent retired as a professor of art from Northeast Missouri University after 22 years of teaching. He also taught at Bethany, W.V., and Independence, Kan. Florence was a secretary and a homemaker. The couple has three children, Bruce McAlexander and Lynda McAlexander, both of Monett, and Arnold McAlexander, deceased. They have eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
