MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News
Receipts: 784 Last Week: 840 Last Year: 271
Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows sold 2.00-3.00 higher and slaughter
bulls sold 3.00 higher. A high percent of the offering went to slaughter and
included several cull dairy cows. Short forage supplies forced several more
producers to reduce their herd size. The area continues to endure temperatures
well above one-hundred with no rain, causing all vegetation to have turned brown
and cease growing. There was a light to moderate number of bred cows and cow/
calf pairs that returned to the farm. Supply was heavy and demand moderate to
good for slaughter classes.
