The 24th annual Pierce City Car Show will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Pierce City South Park. Registration will be from 8 a.m. to noon. The fee to participate is $15. The top 75 vehicles will receive a trophy. For more information, call Kevin Hatfield at 417-850-0940.

A luncheon will be hosted by Tom Wolfe Memorial Post #4207, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Post, on Highway 60, west of Monett. The menu will include roast beef, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, seasoned green beans, dessert and beverage. Cost is $6.

A monthly dance at the Monett Senior Citizens Center, 405 Dairy St., will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6. Music will be provided by the Fun Timers Band. Admission is $3. Those attending are urged to bring pot luck or finger food.

The Verona Fire Department is looking for volunteer firefighters, first responders, fire engine drivers and operators and in-service helpers. Anyone interested is urged to get an application at Verona City Hall, 144 N. Third St.

A wild turkey banquet to benefit the National Wild Turkey Federation will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3 at the American Legion Home, 717 E. Broadway in Monett. A drawing for guns and artwork will be held. Advanced tickets are available by calling Bill at 236-3719.

The City of Verona will test its tornado sirens on the first Monday of every month, weather permitting.

Body of Christ Outreach Ministries will hold a concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, at First and Main in Rocky Comfort. Southern gospel recording group Second Generation will perform. A free will offering will be taken. For more information, contact Pastor Gene Robinson at 417-652-3709.

Absentee voting continues through Monday, Aug. 6, for the Aug. 7 election at courthouses in Cassville and Mt. Vernon. The Barry County Courthouse will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 4. The Lawrence County Courthouse will be open from 8 a.m. to noon. Both courthouses will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 6 to file absentee ballots. The last day to request a ballot to be mailed is Aug. 1. Voters must present one form of identification when voting. The Ebenezer Baptist Church, north of Monett, will hold Vacation Bible School July 30 through Aug. 3 with the theme "Amazing Wonders Aviation." Sessions will be from 6:30 to 8:40 p.m. The church is located two miles north of Business Highway 60 on Chapell Drive (Farm Road 1090).

The seventh annual Welcome Home Golf Tournament, sponsored by VFW Post #4207, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, at Windmill Ridge Golf Course in Monett. Cash prizes will be awarded in all flights. The Marionville First Baptist Church will change services on Sunday, Aug. 5, to hold Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and a combined worship service at 10:30 a.m.
