Two-Vehicle Crash

Monday, July 30, 2012

A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 60 and Kyler St. in Monett on Friday resulted in serious injuries to one of the drivers. Chelsea Jones, 18, of Monett, driving a northbound 2008 Chevrolet HHR was hit by an eastbound 2003 Kenworth semi-tractor from FMG Transport, driven by Rodney Wade, 51, of West Plains. According to the investigating officer, Sgt. Dennis Camp, of the Monett Police Department, lights at the intersection were not functional due to a power outage and the trucker failed to yield to Jones, who was positioned to his right. Jones was airlifted to an area hospital. Monett police and fire personnel responded to the scene. [Times photo by Melonie Roberts]

Where were the police?, as soon as that outage happened there should have been officers at the major intersections. It is a Highway! I was first on the scene and no one wanted to take my statement. This was a no fault accident and the only sad thing was that the city/state failed the drivers on this road.
