Final sign-ups for Monett Mighty Mite football and cheerleaders is today at the field house at Burl Fowler Stadium from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information, call Sean Kelley at 235-9700. The first game will be on Sept. 1.

The Monett City Council will hold a special meeting at 9:30 a.m. today at Monett City Hall to introduce an ordinance to consider a settlement agreement with Jason and Jennifer Inman.

Body of Christ Outreach Ministries will hold a concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, at First and Main in Rocky Comfort. Southern gospel recording group SEcond Generation will perform. A free will offering will be taken. For more information, contact Pastor Gene Robinson at 417-652-3709.

Absentee voting continues through Monday, Aug. 6, for the Aug. 7 election at courthouses in Cassville and Mt. Vernon. The Barry County Courthouse will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 4. The Lawrence County Courthouse will be open from 8 a.m. to noon. Both courthouses will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 6 to file absentee ballots. The last day to request a ballot to be mailed is Aug. 1. Voters must present one form of identification when voting. Absentee requests must include the date of the election, name of the voter, a physical address, date of birth, phone number, the reason for voting absentee, the last four digits of the voter's Social Security card and the voter's signature. The descendants of Henry Booker and Nora Etha (Poynor) Sisco will meet at the Monett Pizza Hut on Friday, July 27, at 7 p.m. for their 15th family reunion. At 6 p.m. on Saturday, the reunion will resume at Grant's restaurant in Monett for photos, singing, reminiscing and storytelling.

The Lawrence County Commission has issued a burn ban for all of the unincorporated areas of the county.

Training for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) participation will be held July 27 and 28 at the Sycamore Community Building, east of Chesapeake. Sessions will be from 5 to 10 p.m. on July 27 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 28. Training is free. For more information, call 417-861-4469.

The seventh annual Welcome Home Golf Tournament, sponsored by Tom Wolfe Memorial Post #4207, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, at Windmill Ridge Golf Course in Monett. The three-person scramble with shotgun start begins at 8 a.m. Cash prizes for first, second and third place will be awarded in all flights. The Ebenezer Baptist Church, north of Monett, will hold Vacation Bible School July 30 through Aug. 3 with the theme "Amazing Wonders Aviation." Sessions will be from 6:30 to 8:40 p.m. The church is located two miles north of Business Highway 60 on Chapell Drive (Farm Road 1090).
