YMCA Fun Takes Shape

Thursday, July 26, 2012

The leisure pool, under construction at the new Monett Area YMCA, will feature a lily pad activity, a bucket dump, water cannons, a waterfall and arch sprayers for the enjoyment of young patrons. Immediately to the south of the pool, at the top of the photo, will be the splash area for young toddlers. That area will feature bubblers, aqua arches, waterspouts and a mushroom maze. There will also be painted characters such as Finn the Fish, Star Fish, Kirby Crab and Ollie Octopus, that will all spout water. [Times Photo by Melonie Roberts]

Construction workers at the new Monett Area YMCA complex are framing in what will be the game room and events areas of the facility. Construction on the facility has not been impacted by the searing temperatures, according to Gordon Brown, executive director for the Monett Area YMCA. "Workers have said they enjoy working on this project because it is in the shade," Brown said. [Times Photo by Melonie Roberts] [Order this photo]
