Wanda was born in Beggs, Okla., on April 5, 1932, the daughter of Walter C. Wesley and Zelma (Conner) Wesley. She grew up in Oklahoma and graduated with the class of 1949 in Excelsior, Okla. Wanda was a homemaker for most of her adult life and was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ in Monett, where she was active in the Ladies Bible Class. One of the greatest joys in Wanda's life was spending time with her grandchildren.
On October 23, 1949 in Cromwell, Okla., Wanda Wesley and John James McGee were united in marriage. They were blessed with almost 60 years together before his passing on August 13, 2008. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Malcolm Wesley.
She is survived by one son, John McGee and wife Debbie, of Bella Vista, AR; three daughters, Virginia "Ginny" Williams, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Valarie Dixon and husband George, of Okemah, Okla., and Vivian Kennedy, of Monett; two brothers, Nelson Wesley and wife Dorothy, of Havana, Kan., and Raymond Wesley and wife Ruth, of Okemah, Okla.; one sister, Leona Simmons, of Moore, Okla.; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann McGee, of Shawnee, Okla.; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and close friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda McGee will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel in Monett, with Walter Buchanan, minister, officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Mondaym July 23, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fair Haven Children's Home in care of Buchanan Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
