Monday, July 23, 2012

Jon McLean, assistant store manager at the Monett Walmart, pictured at left, recently presented Nathan Bowen, a representative of Behind the Red Door Ministry, pictured at right, a check in the amount of $1,000 to assist in the ministry's efforts. Behind the Red Door Ministry also celebrated serving its 10,000th meal during the month of July.
The Behind the Red Door ministry recently held a BBQ lunch for the patrons of the Community Kitchen in celebration of distributing over 10,000 meals.

The not-for-profit ministry received a $1,000 grant from Walmart to assist in their efforts.

Patrons were treated to a meal of barbecued hamburgers or hot dogs, homemade baked beans, chips, soda, water and ice cream. In addition, approximately 300 bagged lunches were distributed after the meal.

Behind the Red Door Ministries is a 501(c) 3 organization. Organizers are working on developing a website www.btrdcharity@ yahoo.com, to explain their mission and goals.

The organization is collecting toys to be given away at Christmas and coats in the fall.

Volunteers for the celebratory luncheon included: Nancy Smith Leach, Beth Jadlow, Wyatt, Jenna, Janice, Doug, and Nathan Bowen. Special recognition went to Prime Cut for donating hamburgers and Walmart for their donation.
